52-year-old Clinton Craig Hefton is accused of killing Stone County Deputy Justin Smith. According to reports, the deputy went to Hefton’s home on Sawmill Road to serve a misdemeanor warrant. When he went to the door, Hefton opened the door and fired multiple rounds at the deputy, hitting him several times. Hefton is charged with capital murder and is being held without bond.
