The Izard County Sheriff’s Office reports that Dispatch has been extremely busy paging multiple volunteer fire departments to multiple fires throughout Izard County for out-of-control fires. Some fire department departments have been called to multiple fires. The county is not under a burn ban and it is the time of year for farmers and landowners to burn off their property.
The Sheriff’s Office says that the fire department volunteers sure could use a break. If you are going to burn please call dispatch, 870-368-4203, and give them the address where you are going to burn and a phone number. This helps out when someone else can see the fire and calls dispatch to report it. Also, use caution and have help to contain it.
