Missouri is sending troops to the southern border

Governor Mike Parson announced Tuesday that he is deploying up to 200 Missouri National Guard troops and 22 state highway patrol officers to Texas next month. The troops and officers are set to assist Texas in enforcing immigration policies at the border in what it calls Operation Lone Star. The executive order lasts until June and National Guard members will be rotated about every thirty days. Parson emphasized the importance of stopping drugs from coming through the border

Other Republican-led states pledged their support to Texas last month following its standoff with the Department of Homeland Security over the use of barbed wire at the border
