
Fulton County Sheriff Jake Smith in a press release on Friday stated that an arrest has been made for a murder that happened in August of 2004.
On August 25, 2004, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department responded to a shooting call on Whippoorwill Road in Salem. Deputies found that David “Stony” Stone had been shot and killed through the window of a residence belonging to Leon King. The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas State Police continued to work on the investigation. In May of 2023, Detective Dale Weaver with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office took over the investigation of David Stone’s homicide. Detective Weaver interviewed many persons of interest and examined tons of evidence that had been collected during the investigation nearly 20 years ago. Detective Weaver was able to locate more evidence and submitted every piece he could to the Arkansas State Crime Lab. On February 23, 2024, Detective Weaver interviewed Dennis Kingston regarding the homicide. Detective Weaver had interviewed Kingston the week prior and believed Kingston to be the perpetrator of the crime. After the interview today Dale Weaver arrested Dennis Kingston after Kingston confessed to shooting David Stone through the window on that night in August of 2004. Kingston will be in court on February 26, 2024, at 9:30 am.
