WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Paty Figueiredo, head coach of the Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Volleyball team, has announced the signing of two players to the 2024-2025 team. They are:

  • Savannah Koehn, a 5-foot, 9-inch outside/right side hitter from Forsyth, Missouri
  • Prairie Vaughn, a 5-foot, 9-inch setter from Hackett, Arkansas

More about Koehn

Koehn helped lead her Forsyth High School team to a second place finish in districts this past season and earned first team all-conference and Class 3 all-state honors. She also was named an AVCA player of the week and was a selected to the Licking Volleyball Camp all-tournament team.

Figueiredo described Koehn as a very competitive, but composed, player who exhibits commitment and confidence to her teammates and opponents.

“She is a very athletic hitter who will be able to develop even more and will be able to keep our team playing at a high speed,” the coach said. “She has different shots and is a smart hitter who makes good decisions.”

Koehn is used to the serve-receive game and being the “go-to” hitter for her school and club teams, Figueiredo said. “She is a very versatile player who will be able to contribute at different positions. Her competitiveness will be very important for our team and will raise the bar of competitiveness among our hitters,” the coach explained.

More about Vaughn

Vaughn finished her career at Hackett High School as the Hornets all-time leader in career assists with 1,782. She earned all-state, all-star and all-conference honors while helping lead the Hornets to a conference and district championships and a second-place finish in the Class 3A state championship game this past season.

“Prairie is a setter with a lot of technical quality,” Figueiredo said. “She understands the importance of creating good connections with her teammates. Prairie takes the initiative to help her teammates and is a strong leader on the court.”

The addition of Vaughn is a huge benefit for the Grizzlies as they will be able to practice with two great setters on each side of the net, Figueiredo said.

“The setter position is the brain of our team, and we are in good hands with the addition of Prairie,” the coach said. “She makes good decisions and has a great understanding of the game. She also has great defensive skills on the back row, which will be an important asset for us. We know Prairie will continue to achieve personal goals and will also help the Grizzlies succeed with her dedication and motivation on and off the court.”
