Around noon yesterday, a call was placed to the ECNN News Center informing us that the City of Winona is under a boil water order until further notice, after work crews accidentally busted a pipe on Thursday morning. The city must wait for tests to return from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
Observe the following directions:
1. Boil water vigorously for three minutes before use. Use only boiled water for drinking, diluting fruit juices, and all other food preparations.
2. Dispose of ice cubes, and do not use ice from a household automatic icemaker. Remake ice cubes with boiled water.
3. Disinfect dishes and other food-contact surfaces by immersing them for at least one minute in clean tap water containing one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.
4. Water used for bathing does not need to be boiled. Supervision of children is necessary while bathing so that the water is not ingested. Persons with cuts or severe rashes may want to consult their physician before bathing.
