One local police department’s phone lines are jammed.

That’s what happened after the Willow Springs Police Department shut them down following what it describes as “hundreds of phone calls” from a so-called “First Amendment group.”

It all started last Saturday, May 11 when James Fish of Willow Springs shot video of a fracas between him and police after, according to Fish, he was ran off from a local car show because someone didn’t like that he was wearing a “press” vest.  Fish asserts that it’s his freedom of speech and freedom of the press.

Willow Springs Police Chief Wes Ellison says that Fish was making gestures and yelling at the people at the car show.  The chief says that’s when things escalated, with Fish parked on the side of the road and engaging in an argument with police, resulting in a ticket.  Fish posted the video on YouTube and now the Willow Springs PD has had to turn off the phones due to voluminous amount of phone calls they are receiving on Fish’s behalf.

The question that doesn’t seem to be asked is, Why was Fish yelling at anything at anybody at a car show and what exactly was he yelling?  ECNN will reach out to both the Willow Springs PD and Mr. Fish for comment later today if either of them are available.
