The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department is reporting that four people died in a house explosion in the Goodhope area on Saturday. Douglas County Deputies, Ava Police Department, Missouri Highway Patrol, and Goodhope Fire Department responded to a house explosion call. Upon arrival, 4 subjects from the home were found deceased from the explosion. Sheriff Degase stated this explosion was like no other he had ever seen so he contacted Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnot and Christian County Sheriff Brad Cole who assisted by sending their bomb squad and specialized equipment and Deputies to conduct and document the evidence. The State Fire Marshal and ATF assisted in the investigation as well. After all night of sifting through debris investigators, it was determined that the homeowners were renovating the residence, resulting in a propane leak inside the home. No names have been released.
