
Governor Parson has ordered his cabinet not to pay legal bills for three state senators sued for defamation over remarks made about a man falsely accused of being the shooter at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade. But the attorney general is doubling down.
Tuesday afternoon, the Attorney General’s Andrew Bailey is adamant that they are following their duty under Missouri law but Parson disagrees.
The legal expense fund generally doles out thousands of dollars every month to defend state agencies and officials against lawsuits that arise during public duties.
The attorney general also declined further comment due to the pending lawsuits.
