Deadly storms moved across northern Arkansas and Southern Missouri Sunday morning, and then another round of storms hit Sunday night.  Authorities say that two people died in Marion County and one in Baxter County Sunday morning. 73-year-old Patricia Anne Sontag was reported missing after her mobile home was destroyed near Salesville.  Then later her body was found about 300 yards away from the home. Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery also reported that 17 people were injured, including 6 children.  Marion County authorities have not released the names of the victims there.

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has issued a state of emergency after the storms left damage and knocked out power to thousands.  Sanders said the sum of $250,000 will be obligated to be used at the discretion of the Director of the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management to defray both program and administrative costs.

Then on Sunday evening, several tornadoes were confirmed across southern Missouri with one touching down along Highway Y north of Mountain View, damaging houses and campers. A  Tornado touched down in Birch Tree according to the National Weather Service. There were reports of minor injuries.  The police department said that emergency responders are working to clear roads of fallen trees and power lines and locate residents affected by the tornado. Liberty High School has also opened up as a temporary shelter for residents as clean-up starts.

There were also reports of a tornado on the ground near Highway 60 and Route U, which was reported north of Eminence.

Thousands of people lost power as these storms took out power lines and poles across the area.
