
Thursday morning Douglas County Sheriff Degase and Lt. Tayor Wallace assisted Ava PD Officers Stroud, Hoekema, and Chief Overcast at the Super 8 Motel after Ava PD Officers received information about 2 male subjects at the motel with a firearm.
Contact was made with 30-year-old Tyler Barton and 30-year-old William Roffman of Ava by Law Enforcement on the scene. After both subjects were detained Sheriff Degase obtained consent to search the motel room and a search was conducted by Cpl. Gabe Stroud and Ava PD Canine Odin. K9 Odin alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics. Several grams of methamphetamine were seized as well as a syringe loaded with methamphetamine, scales, and baggies used to divide illegal narcotics for sale. Officers also seized a firearm as well. Barton was a convicted felon who was prohibited from possessing firearms.
A warrant for Barton was issued for Delivery of a Controlled Substance Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance Methamphetamine, possession of a Firearm, and Possession of Burglary Tools. The bond was set at $50,000 cash only.
A warrant was issued for William Roffmann for Delivery of a Controlled Substance Methamphetamine and Possession of a Controlled Substance Methamphetamine bond was set at $25,000 cash only.
