
A Birch Tree man suffered serious injuries in a motorcycle accident south of Birch Tree on Highway Y Monday afternoon. The Highway Patrol reports that 65-year-old Jimmy Rogers was injured when he turned into the path of a pickup driven by a 17-year-old boy from Birch Tree. Rogers was flown to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
A woman from Stroud Oklahoma was injured in a UTV accident Monday afternoon on county road 449 in Douglas County. 21-year-old Chrisann Quinalty suffered moderate injuries when 27-year-old Christopher Meredith of Mount Vernon drove off the road and overturned the UTV. Meridith was charged with Dwi and no seatbelt. Quinalty was taken to Cox Medical Center in Springfield.
A Winona man was injured in a motorcycle accident on Highway 19, north of Winona, Monday morning. 48-year-old Brian Cook suffered minor injuries when the motorcycle malfunctioned causing Cook to lose control of the bike and overturn. Cook was taken to Mercy St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View.
On Monday afternoon, a big truck ran off Highway 67 into the Current River between Pocahontas and Corning. The driver was uninjured but the Highway was shut down for several hours while crews worked to remove the semi from the river. Another crash happened shortly after the Semi ran into the river when a pickup pulled in front of a Biggers-Reyno Fire Truck that was responding to the crash. A firefighter was injured and taken to an area hospital. The name of the firefighter has not been released.
