SCAM ALERT: The Howell County Sheriff’s Office is once again seeing a rise in reports related to jury duty scams. Scammers call Howell County residents impersonating staff and deputies, and in many cases, are using legitimate names and ranks saying the victim missed jury duty and must pay a fine to avoid jail time and or come into the Sheriff’s Office.
This is NOT how the Howell County Sheriff’s Office or the Howell County Circuit Court operates. If a resident does fail to appear for jury duty, they will receive written notice from the court informing them what actions they should take.
