U.S. 63 to be watched closer by MSHP

Due to two automobile accidents, including a fatality on US 63 between West Plains and Thayer just this week, the Missouri State Highway Patrol announced that they will be monitoring that stretch of highway even more closely.

Troopers will be patrolling 63 frequently, looking for those going over the speed limit and drivers getting too close to other cars. The Highway Patrol is hoping that this will keep people spread out more aware to prevent these crashes. They will also be looking for distracted drivers, anyone visibly on their phones looking away from the road or doing something other than paying attention to the road in front of them. The Highway Patrol can’t write tickets for phones on the road until next year, but they will be. Handing out warnings.
