A man from Mountain Grove drowned Thursday in the Gasconade River. The Missouri Highway Patrol reports that 33-year-old Preston Jarrett drowned when he attempted to retrieve an item from the center of the river, he went under and never resurfaced. His body was eventually located by the Highway patrol dive team. The drowning happened Thursday morning on the Gasconade River about a quarter mile west of Highway E.
