MoDOT is suspending road projects for the Independence Day holiday.

According to AAA, more than 60.6 million travelers are expected to hit the roads, driving 50 miles or more for the holiday, which is an additional 2.8 million more compared to 2023.

As more people are expected to load up in their cars, the Missouri Department of Transpiration is encouraging safety above all else.

There is some good news about the construction zones though, according to MoDOT the zones will be a little less hectic. Starting in the evening on Wednesday July 3, the work in zones that have lane closures will cease and then resume on Friday July 5.
