The Sheriff’s office reports that they received a 911 call from a female resident on E. Washington Avenue in Ava regarding a male subject attempting to kick the door of her house in. At the same time, Sheriff Degase received a call on his cell phone from the male homeowner advising the same thing.
Douglas County 911 dispatched the City Police Department as well as the Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies. Sheriff Degase responded and obtained a description and direction of travel of the suspect. A search was initiated by both agencies resulting in Deputy Wilson locating a male subject near Kutz Car Clinic and the Laundry Mat matching the description of the suspect. The subject was identified as 35-year-old Randall Redding of Mtn. Grove. Both Sheriff Degase and Lt. Wallace were familiar with Redding from past burglaries in Douglas County in 2021.
Redding initially denied being at the house but later admitted it was him. Redding was obviously under the influence of a controlled substance.
Redding was arrested by Ava Police and taken to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. A warrant was issued for Redding for Attempted Burglary. The bond was set at $15,000 cash only.
