Prosecutors in Douglas County say that an Ava woman has stolen more than $400,000 from an elderly woman.
Beth Stafford was charged and arrested Monday for financial exploitation of an elderly person. According to the county prosecutor’s office, the victim loaned Stafford the money to pay for legal fees. Stafford denies receiving any money from the elderly woman but investigators say otherwise- claiming to find evidence on Stafford’s phone that tells a different story.
The Ava Police and the Douglas County Sheriffs Department are still investigating the matter.
