In an update on a story you heard first on ECNN, the Baxter County Sheriff’s Department has identified the body that was found Thursday in Moccasin Creek.
According to authorities, the body is that of 50-year-old Rickey Joe Millsap of Mountain Home.
Shortly after 8 Thursday morning, a motorist driving on State Highway 5 South observed a body floating in Moccasin Creek, at the Baxter County/Izard County line.
Deputies and other responders arrived on the scene and found a nude decomposing body floating in the creek.
The body was removed by the Baxter County Coroner’s Office. The body will be sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office in Little Rock for autopsy to determine the manner and cause of death and to assist in attempting to identify the decedent.
