The Highway Patrol says that 42-year-old Edward Neal was swimming in the river and began to struggle, he became unconscious and drowned. Neal was pronounced dead at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. The drowning happened at the Current River Bridge in Doniphan around 4:10 on Sunday afternoon.
