Fall hunting regulation changes

Hunters need to know there are some changes in the 2024 fall turkey season in Missouri.

The Missouri Department of Conservation now requires fall firearms turkey hunters and fall archery turkey hunters to purchase a fall turkey-hunting permit, meaning turkey permits will now be separate from the normal archery tags.

The fall turkey season will now be split into archery and firearms portions, and the combined harvest limit has also been reduced from four turkeys to only two birds, male or female. The two turkey permits are $14 and are required for both archery and firearms.

They will now be purchased separately from your deer archery permits. The MDC says the fall turkey hunting regulations changed after a public request. It’s a way to reduce the fall harvest of turkeys while maintaining opportunity for hunters.

New fall deer and turkey brochures will detail the changes in regulations- those brochures are free at your conservation center or places where permits are sold.

The first portion of archery turkey and deer season opens Sunday, September 15 and runs through November 15.
