The Highway Patrol reports that 53-year-old Sandra Shumate of Ava suffered moderate injuries and 56-year-old James Klein of Gainesville suffered minor injuries when Shumate pulled into the path of a vehicle driven by Klein. The accident happened on Highway 5, eleven miles north of Gainesville. Shumate was flown to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Klein was taken to Baxter Health in Mountain Home.
