On Sunday the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department arrested Dustin Pippin on a warrant for 2nd Degree Murder, leaving the scene of an accident and tampering with physical evidence, bond was set at $100,000 cash only.
The warrant was a result of an investigation conducted by Sheriff Chris Degase when 73-year-old Julia Christean Hicks of Squires was run over and killed on N Highway in Squires on December 20, 2020.
This investigation covered four years until Sheriff Degase located the vehicle in October 2024 that ran over Mrs. Hicks.
Sheriff Degase stated that cases of this nature that occur without witnesses and very little evidence are difficult to work on. He met with the family Sunday night and advised them of the charges and arrest. He said he hopes this will bring a sense of closure and justice for the family.
