West Plains Police are investigating a homicide

Wednesday night, at 9:20,  West Plains Police Officers were in the 1200 block of Jackson Street when they heard several gunshots coming from the area of Columbus Drive. Officers began an immediate search of the area when they received a call from the 1200 block of Columbus Drive that a male who had been shot was lying on their porch.

Officers arriving on the scene located an unresponsive, forty-eight-year-old male on the front porch of a residence. Medic personnel responded and the subject was pronounced deceased. The disturbance started at another residence where a female shot the victim within the residence. The victim ran from the residence to another location where the female suspect pursued him continuing to fire at the victim. The suspect was hit multiple times and died from apparent gunshot wounds.

The names of the parties involved are being withheld pending notifications of the next of kin. The female has been arrested for First Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action and was referred to the Howell County Prosecutor’s Office for filing of the charges. There is no remaining threat to the community.
