Amendment Three, which protects access to abortion in Missouri took effect at midnight Friday morning. Several Jefferson city lawmakers are already coming up with ways to adjust the rules. In the afternoon on Friday, a Jackson County Judge Jerri Zhang was trying to figure out how Amendment Three would be applied. The attorney general’s office is planning to keep restrictions in place, however, Planned Parenthood is trying to overturn the abortion ban and some other laws restricting abortion. Lawmakers have written over a dozen bills and resolutions concerning the passing of Amendment Three. You can expect to hear a lot about abortion and women’s healthcare in the new year.
