The Baxter County Library Foundation has announced that it has received federal funding through the Arkansas Department of Transportations 2024 Transportation Alternatives program. The Library has received $456,000. The funding is going to represent 80% of the funding needed for the Library Hill Trail. The Library Hill Trail will connect the community with the Library and give them recreational access. The trail will also include McCabe Park and Arkansas State University – Mountain Home. The approximately three-quarters of a mile-long trail has not yet been designed, and the Library Foundation will work to raise the remaining 20% of the project cost to bring this vision to life. According to Baxter County Library Director Kim Crow Sheaner, “We have been imagining the Library Hill Trial for quite a while, and with the trails at McCabe Park and ASU in place, this is perfect timing. We are excited about providing safer access to the library for area students and promoting health and wellness in our community.” To support the Library Hill Trail project you can call Adeana at 870-580-0705 or email the Baxter County Library Foundation at foundation@baxlib.org
