A Baxter County man has been accused of trying to hit another person with a handgun. Steven Wheaton is looking at a felony count of aggravated assault. The victim claimed he owed Wheaton money for a past child-support issue and tried to talk to him about it. Allegedly, Wheaton then pulled a gun from the center console and attempted to hit the victim with the gun. Wheaton stated that he had a handgun in the center console and an inoperable one in the door. Wheaton was held in the Baxter County Detention Center but was released shortly on a $25,000 bond.
