An inmate at the South Central Correctional Center in Licking has been awarded money. Christopher Spates was awarded $330,111 after he was beaten up by another inmate in 2018. The inmate who attacked him was free in the jail cell while Spates was handcuffed in the cell. Spates was convicted in 2011 for killing a St. Louis woman.
