
On Friday, January 31, 2025, at approximately 0954 hours, a hotline call led SCSO Deputy Baker and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to a residence in the Birch Tree area. Upon arrival, Deputy Baker observed the residence engulfed in flames and swiftly took action. Without hesitation, Deputy Baker made entry into the burning home and successfully extracted a male individual from his wheelchair, rescuing him from danger. Shortly after, SCSO Captain McCoy, Deputy Roberts, and Sheriff Stone arrived at the scene. Deputy Baker was treated by Mercy EMS after the rescue was completed. The individual from the residence was transported by Mercy EMS to an undisclosed emergency room.
