A Melbourne woman has received three years in prison for 12 counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.
In July, Izard County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a call concerning the welfare of a two-year-old child. The concern was due to the child’s mother, 34-year-old Joanna Taylor, being arrested on warrants out of Fulton County. The child was not with her.
Dispatch was also told she had left the child alone in the past. Deputies arrived at the residence in Melbourne and gained entry into the home where a toddler was found alone. DHS was notified and quickly arrived on the scene to care for the child.
Taylor allegedly admitted to leaving the child at the home alone while she was working multiple jobs for the last couple of months.
Taylor was charged with 12 counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor. She pleaded guilty to the charges in Izard County Circuit Court.
