The Shannon County Jail addition is progressing well, although weather-related challenges have impacted construction timelines. Inclement weather has occasionally slowed work, but efforts are being made to stay on track.
The Commission, Prosecutor, and Sheriff are in continuous communication with the engineers at Smith & Company to ensure the project stays on course. The Sheriff also had the opportunity to meet with the jailhouse oversight committee, which is made up of Shannon County citizens, to discuss progress and next steps.
This project is slated to be completed on or by December 2025, and they remain optimistic as they work toward this important milestone for our community.
