An inmate in the Baxter County Detention Center is facing more charges following a couple of incidents involving jailers over the last month. Originally 20-year-old Dominick Kersey was jailed with a bond of $1,100 but it has since been raised to $12,450. Kersey faces charges of third-degree battery, impairing the operation of a vital public facility, and criminal mischief in the first degree. These charges come after he tried to shut a jailer in a pod for trying to remove the cleaning cart from Kersey’s jail cell. Kersey started punching the jailer and when his glasses fell off he grabbed them and bent them in half. The next incident happened on February 28 and added charges of battery on a police officer in the second degree and impairing the operation of a vital public facility. Kersey allegedly had a jailer’s flashlight and was swinging it at the jailer’s head. Kersey had to be tased and was finally able to be put back in handcuffs. Kersey’s original charges were endangering the welfare of a minor in the third-degree and third-degree assault on a family or household member. He has been in the Baxter County Detention Center since February 4, 2025.
