Ozark County Sheriff’s Department agrees to house I.C.E. detainees

The Ozark County Sheriff’s Office has reached an agreement with Immigration and Customs Enforcement to start housing detainees. The Sheriff’s Office signed a federal contract and in return will get federal funding for housing the inmates and transportation fees. The Sheriff’s Office reportedly offered to house up to 20 detainees. The sheriff says the money that comes in will be spent on adding more staff to his office with increased pay. Sheriff Martin says detainees will be non-violent individuals.  The Contract is for five years.
