Man arrested after pursuit in Oregon and Shannon Counties

On Thursday, April 10, 2025, Oregon County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch contacted Shannon County Central Dispatch regarding a vehicle pursuit that had entered into Shannon County.

The Sheriff’s Department responded to intercept the pursuit. En route, the suspect’s vehicle ran off the roadway and collided with trees, yet continued on. Ultimately, the vehicle eluded law enforcement. Despite the suspect fleeing, the Shannon County Sheriff’s Office immediately launched an investigation

Information provided identified the suspect as Jonathan “JT” Needles, who is currently on Probation & Parole. Contact was made with Oregon County to assist in confirming the identity of the driver. Oregon County continued their investigation. While Needles was detained during Shannon County’s investigation, he resisted arrest and assaulted Captain McCoy.

During the assault, Needles caused property damage to an Oregon County Patrol Vehicle, which will likely result in an additional felony charge. It was also determined that Needles made a false report, an action that constitutes a criminal offense.

  3. Unlawful Use of a Weapon
  4. Felon in Possession of a Firearm
  5. Assault on a Special Victim (LE)
  6. Property Damage
  7. Making a False Report
  8. Child Endangerment

Needles was transported to the Shannon County Jail, where he will be held on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges.

After the joint investigation concludes, the Oregon County Sheriff’s Office will be seeking multiple felony charges through the Oregon County Prosecutor’s Office for the crimes committed within their jurisdiction during the pursuit.
