K-9 Flash achieved his first successful alert on a vehicle, leading to three arrests just ONE DAY after completing K-9 training!
On April 19th, Howell County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Kyle Hambelton observed a Mustang traveling westbound on US 60, which failed to maintain the driving lane. He conducted a traffic stop, and K-9 Deputy Timothy Gordon and K-9 Flash arrived on the scene. As Deputy Hambleton began speaking with the driver and passenger, he noticed signs of impairment.
Deputy Timothy Gordon deployed K9 Flash to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle, and Flash indicated the presence of narcotics inside the car. A search of the vehicle uncovered drug paraphernalia and a white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine. Inside a purse, two used syringes were also located, which field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
All three occupants of the vehicle were arrested and transported to the Howell County Adult Detention Center, where they were booked and released pending charges.
The arrested were: Linda Marie Bowers, age 45 from Springfield, David Laurence Turner, age 72 from Willow Springs, and Dawn R. Turner, age 45 of Elsinore, Missouri.
