
The Thayer City Council met last night at City Hall for their regular monthly meeting. The Council voted to pay bills, then heard from Cliff Williams about the wellness of the City. Mr. Williams talked about nutrition and possibly using some of the industrial park for gardens and maybe animal production. The Council advised him to come up with a proposal and come back to them. The council then heard from Fred Oneil about rezoning 304 Caroline Street. A rezoning meeting will be held on June 10th at 6:30 pm to discuss it. The City Council then postponed the vote on the MIRMA Police Department policies and postponed the discussion on selling the old police rifles. The City Council then discussed the lift station at Warm Form Park that was damaged by the recent floods. They voted to use funds from the bond reserve to fix it and hope that money comes through from FEMA or SEMA. They discussed the removal of the old bridge behind Cover’s at the request of the Railroad. During the discussion, they heard from residents and then agreed to meet with the railroad about the bridge. They then discussed the conflict of interest Ordinance and agreed to leave it as it is. The Council reviewed and discussed the new animal and dog ordinance and set a hearing on it for 6:30 pm on June 10th. The council then approved the painting of the brush truck donated by the Forestry Department.
