The Shannon County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a man from Illinois.

In a joint operation with the Winona Police Department, the Sheriff’s Department was called to Casey’s in Winona for an active burglary and an assault with a pizza knife.

Upon arrival, Winona PD detained Zachary D. Greer from Staunton, IL. As Detective Roberts approached, Greer launched into a tirade of racial slurs and became physically combative. Despite multiple warnings, Greer resisted arrest and was tased by Detective Roberts, but continued to fight through the effects. Officers from both agencies successfully restrained and cuffed Greer after a physical struggle. Greer continued to make threats, stating he would resist every step of the way, including refusing to shower, dress out, or comply in jail. He was transported to the Carter County Jail. He is charged with felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon and two counts of felony Harassment 1st Degree. Greer is being held without bond.
