Missouri’s stadium plan has passed its first major test in the state senate

On Tuesday, the Senate Fiscal Committee passed the bill by a vote of 6-3. It now heads to the Senate floor, where it’s expected to meet some bipartisan opposition.

If passed, the Kansas City Chiefs will consider spending more than $1 billion to renovate Arrowhead Stadium. Otherwise, the franchise could head to Kansas to build a dome on the other side of the state line.

The Chiefs are hoping to make a decision by the end of June. If they remain at Arrowhead, construction for renovations would begin in 2027 or 2028.

The Royals have also said they are debating options in both states and remain undecided about their future home.
