
On Saturday, at 5:46 a.m., West Plains Police were dispatched for a disturbance at the Holiday Inn Express. The first caller stated that a subject was on the premises and was refusing to leave. Another person called shortly after and reported a firearm had been discharged there.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with a witness who said they watched the suspect fire several rounds into a vehicle as it fled the parking lot. At 5:58 a.m., a 23-year-old black male from Little Rock, Arkansas, who was identified as a suspect, was placed in custody, and a firearm was recovered.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that a black female who was inside the vehicle received a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was located several hours later in the State of Arkansas. It was also determined that the vehicle had multiple occupants, one being an infant child.
A suspect has been placed on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges for:
1st Degree Assault with Intent
Armed Criminal Action
Unlawful Use of Weapon
First Degree Endangering the Welfare of Child
