The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department reports three arrests in separate cases.

On March 30, 2025. Lt Nelson took an assault report that occurred in western Douglas County. Joshua Robertson immediately fled the state of Missouri. On April 8, 2025, Robertson was indicted by a Douglas County Grand Jury for Domestic Assault 1st, Armed Criminal Action, Endangering the welfare of a child, 2 counts. Bond was set at $25,000 cash only.

Robertson was arrested in Hamilton County, Iowa, on April 9, 2025, and extradited back to Missouri

On May 3, 2025, Deputy Wilson took a report of a stolen dog on Old 5 Highway. Deputy Wilson was assisted by Sgt. Stroud of the Ava Police Department, who located the suspect, Lauren Thatch, walking with a dog.

A warrant was issued for Thatch, age 30 of Ava, for Burglary 2nd Degree and Stealing of an animal. Bond was set at $5,000 cash only.

Sheriff Degase would like to thank the Ava PD for their assistance in this case.

 

Benjamin Peebles, age 34 from Ava, MO was arrested on June 4th,

2025, and charged with six counts of domestic assault in the 2nd

degree and six counts of abuse or neglect of a child. Bond was

set at $25,000 cash only. Detective Nathan Long and the Children’s Division investigated the case. The incidents of child abuse occurred in November 2024.
