Thayer City Council met last night for their regular monthly meeting at City Hall

Before the meeting, a hearing was held to discuss rezoning 304 Caroline Street from residential to commercial and to discuss the animal ordinance. Fred and Kim Oneil requested that the residence they own at 304 Caroline be rezoned so they can use the house for their business. Several citizens spoke in opposition to the rezoning. During the regular meeting, the council decided to postpone the vote on the rezoning until they had time to do more research on the ordinances. They also agreed to postpone the vote on the animal ordinance. The council denied Matt Hoover’s request for the removal of a tree on his property and postponed Hoover’s request to close 7th Street on his property. The council approved the MIRMA police policies, they approve the ordinance on relatives in the city service. They approved the invoice submitted to Garrett Engineering and approved the dumping contract with Ken Moore. The Council then set a workshop to discuss the City Budget for June 17th at 6 pm and then set a special meeting of the council for June 30th at 7 pm.  During the meeting, Mayor Donna Martin gave an update on the Jordan Travel Center Project
