The Howell County Health Department has issued a Rabies alert after an increase in the number of positive rabies tests. Four cases have been confirmed, including two skunks and a kitten south of Mountain View. Howell County has half the confirmed cases in Missouri this year. Missouri has averaged 22 rabid animals per year over the last 10 years.
