A judge ruled the petition for a restraining order against County Commission dismissed on Monday

Monday a courtroom in Eminence was the sight of a showdown between Shannon County’s prosecutor and the county’s special counsel attorney. The prosecutor was seeking a temporary restraining order against the county commission to prevent them from failing to pay deputies’ wages or firing deputies.  This comes in response to the county commissioners’ claim that the sheriff’s office spent 75% of its allotted yearly budget in just the first six months of the year. Deputies were to be fired, and if they wanted to continue working, it would have to be on a volunteer basis. A petition was filed against the county, and the county filed to have the petition dismissed. Judge Steven Privette agreed with the county’s motion, and the petition was dismissed. However, the judge did say that they could file the petition again if they chose. They filed the petition again, and a hearing is scheduled for today before a different judge.
