
The Thayer City Council met last night at City Hall for a special-called meeting. There were three items on the agenda. The Council first discussed the animal ordinance and agreed to remove cats from the ordinance; they then postponed the decision on the rest of the ordinance to a later time. The Council ten voted to close an alleyway at the request of Matt Hoover and, after a short closed session, voted to approve the 2025-26 Budget. When asked how much the budget was, they told those in attendance that it was 5.59, when asked if there were any big things in the budget. The Council talked about the expense of buying of reclosers for the electric department, which will cost about $25,000 each, and Mayor Donna Martin talked about the Parks Department
The City Council also announced that there will be a town hall meeting on August 5th at the Thayer High School cafeteria. The meeting will include plans concerning the City of Thayer’s Business, revitalization, and progress. The County Commissioners will discuss upcoming growth and development in the county and community.
Citizens and residents of the county are welcome at the meeting. There will be no motions made and no votes taken at the meeting; it is an informational meeting only. Citizens will be allowed to ask questions. Each citizen will have two minutes to allow more people to talk.
The meeting will be conducted according to Missouri State Sunshine Law 610.011 RSMO. Minutes of the meeting will be available at City Hall.
