On the night of June 27, 2025, at approximately 11:09 PM, Deputy First Class Robert Malone of the Howell County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop near State Route JJ and County Road 8936 after receiving a report of a careless and imprudent driver.

The vehicle, a 2018 Dodge Ram 1500 with Arkansas dealer plates, failed to yield, prompting a high-speed pursuit that spanned rural highways and crossed into Fulton County, Arkansas. The vehicle, driven by 46-year-old William Brandon Hill reached speeds exceeding 100 mph, at times traveling in the opposite lane while navigating sharp curves on State Route JJ.

The pursuit continued south onto Sturkie Road in Arkansas, where Hill attempted to evade law enforcement by braking abruptly attempting to get Deputy Malone to rear end him and swerving erratically across lanes. The pursuit concluded when Hill turned abruptly off the roadway and failed to make a turn. Deputy Malone used his patrol vehicle to pin the suspect’s vehicle in place and prevent further flight.

Hill was taken into custody without further incident. A search of the vehicle revealed: a loaded shotgun in the passenger seat as well as multiple open and sealed containers of alcohol. Hill admitted to possessing a firearm and stated he fled due to not having a valid driver’s license.

Deputy Malone detained Hill until Fulton County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and took custody of him at approximately 11:52 PM. Hill was transported to the Fulton County Detention Center.

Charges were forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor’s Office for review. Hill remains in the Fulton County Jail while Howell County awaits an extradition waiver. Once the waiver is obtained, Hill will be extradited to the Howell County Jail on charges on a Class E Felony charge of Resisting Arrest/ Stop by Fleeing as well as multiple misdemeanor charges including Driving While Revoked, Speeding, Careless and Imprudent Driving and Fail to Maintain the Right Half of the Roadway.
