Cardinals lost and Royals won on Wednesday

ST. LOUIS — James Wood hit his 24th homer, Nathaniel Lowe added a three-run shot, and the Washington Nationals beat the St Louis Cardinals  8-2 Wednesday night to give interim manager Miguel Cairo his first victory.

Cardinals play the Nationals again today, Miles Mikolas starts.

 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Salvador Perez homered twice,  Jac Caglianone hit the longest measured homer by a Royals rookie, and Kansas City beat the Pittsburgh Pirates  4-3 on Wednesday night to complete a three-game sweep.

The Royals are off today, then host the New York Mets on Friday.
