11 Razorbacks selected in this year’s MLB Draft

ATLANTA – A program-record four Hogs heard their names called in the first round of the MLB Draft on Sunday, July 13.

Right-handed pitcher Gage Wood was taken No. 26 overall by the Philadelphia Phillies and infielder Wehiwa Aloy was selected No. 31 overall by the Baltimore Orioles before left-handed pitcher Zach Root and outfielder Charles Davalan were drafted 40th and 41st overall by the Los Angeles Dodgers with back-to-back picks on the first day of the draft. The 2025 MLB Draft marks the first time the Razorbacks have had multiple players selected in the first round of the same draft.

ATLANTA – Seven Razorbacks heard their names called between Rounds 4-20 on the second and final day of the 2025 MLB Draft on Monday, July 14, bringing Arkansas’ total draft selections to a nation-leading and program record-tying 11.

Right-handed pitcher Christian Foutch (Boston Red Sox – 5th round, No. 148 overall), right-handed pitcher Aiden Jimenez (Kansas City Royals – 5th round, No. 158 overall), left-handed pitcher Landon Beidelschies (Atlanta Braves – 6th round, No. 187 overall), infielder Brent Iredale, (Pittsburgh Pirates – 7th round, No. 203 overall), right-handed pitcher Ben Bybee (San Francisco Giants – 8th round, No. 236 overall), outfielder Justin Thomas Jr. (Houston Astros – 11th round, No. 336 overall) and left-handed pitcher Parker Coil (Milwaukee Brewers – 16th round, No. 485 overall) became the 272nd, 273rd, 274th, 275th, 276th, 277th and 278th draft selections in Arkansas program history as well as the 149th, 150th, 151st, 152nd, 153rd, 154th and 155th draft picks in the Dave Van Horn era (2003-present).
