
Authorities have released more information on the couple arrested last Tuesday after a K9 unit uncovered over two pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Cave City. On July 8th, the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office and the Third Judicial Drug Task Force received a tip about a black Ford Mustang suspected of transporting illegal narcotics in the Cave City area. A Cave City police officer stopped the vehicle on North Main Street shortly after. A Lieutenant and his K9 partner,”Bandit” assisted at the scene. According to reports, Bandit alerted officers to the presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle revealed 1,279 grams, 2.2 pounds of suspected meth. Officers arrested the car’s occupants. 47-year-old McCabe West of Hardy and 44-year-old Melissa Rae Blaskiewicz of Mammoth Spring, on suspicion of trafficking a controlled substance. Both suspects are being held in the Sharp County Detention Center, each is on $250,000 cash-only bond.
