A registered sex offender who had been evading authorities since 2022 was taken into custody Monday in Moody by the Howell County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies arrested 45-year-old Ronn Lee Baker on Tuesday after executing a search warrant at a home on State Route E. Baker, a tier three sex offender, had reportedly failed to comply with mandatory registration requirements for the past three years. The search warrant was issued after a deputy confirmed Baker was listed as absconding. Deputies received a tip about his location and, upon arrival, spoke with the homeowner, who confirmed Baker was inside on the couch. He was taken to the Howell County Jail and charged with Felony Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and was placed on $5,000 bond.
