Jimmy Ray Dell West had active felony warrants for his arrest, including charges of felony 1st-degree harassment and additional misdemeanor offenses. West had seen law enforcement vehicles approaching and fled the area on foot. To assist in the search, deputies deployed a thermal drone to scan the surrounding area for signs of human activity. The drone quickly detected a heat signature consistent with a human figure hiding behind a nearby building. In response, Cpl. Gordon deployed K9 “Flash” to track and apprehend the suspect if necessary. K9 Flash successfully tracked West to the area indicated by the drone, locating him concealed behind a propane tank at the rear of the building. West was given multiple verbal commands to surrender or face apprehension by the K9. He ultimately chose to comply. West was taken into custody without further incident.
